英文詞源
- cone
- cone: [16] Greek kōnos originally meant ‘pinecone’ – it was the pine-cone’s typical shape which suggested the application of the word to a conical geometrical figure. The word passed into English via Latin cōnus and French c?ne. Coniferous [17] was formed from Latin cōnifer, literally ‘cone-bearing’ (-ifer goes back to Latin ferre ‘carry’, a relative of English bear).
=> hone - cone (n.)
- 1560s, from Middle French cone (16c.) or directly from Latin conus "a cone, peak of a helmet," from Greek konos "cone, spinning top, pine cone," perhaps from PIE root *ko- "to sharpen" (cognates: Sanskrit sanah "whetstone," Latin catus "sharp," Old English han "stone").
